“RED FLY / BLUE BOTTLE” is a staged song cycle with video. It is an inquiry, via sound, image and word, into what it means to wake up to a world turned unfamiliar by the looming presence of war. The piece is as much about the residue its songs and images leave behind as the songs themselves. It is just such a residue one finds in a cluture beset by war, in which there is no language or due process by which to speak of such a thing.”
