Residency Announcement: Wickets

Creators Jenny Rogers and Clove Galilee describe “Wickets” as “a radical adaptation of Maria Irene Fornes’ Fefu and Her Friends, set on a transatlantic flight to Paris in 1971. The action takes place in an airplane at 30,000 feet where the audience, in passenger seats located in three separate cabins–coach, business and first class–eavesdrop on the intimate conversations and relationships that develop between the stewardesses.”
Rogers and Galilee have conceived the set as an installation piece that “operates as a theater inside a theater with projection screens running the length of the plane on the left & right sides. Audience members view the plane’s takeoff & landing out the windows via cinemascope-like video projections,” while the cockpit of the plane serves as “a revue stage on which our tenor/archangel performs Freddy Mercury-like rock songs to piano music.”
Performing at HERE Arts Center, January 25-28, 2007
