Multiple Projectors with the same image.
QUESTION:
We have three projectors, and want them to all have the same image.
Is there anyway to connect all three projectors to one computer?
ANSWER:
- Many desktop projectors have a VGA loop through labeled Monitor, if you get projectors with that you can chain them together.
- NOTE: projectors do not usually have a loop for composite or s-video
- If you are using a desktop computer (Mac or PC) the video card may have two outputs that you can mirror so that they both show the same thing.
- NOTE: this only gets you one more mirror not the two you need.
- If you are using a composite or S-video source not VGA then you can buy a $30-$40 DA (distribution amp) from radio shack.
- If using a Computer VGA connection and still need more copies, and the projectors don't loop you can use a VGA DA,
- Not as easy to find but of course available from B&H, or MarkerTek
- wow StarTech does it again with cheap products $40 for x2 $60 for x4
- You can also just "split" the signal with fairly cheap Y cable.
- It's totally "against the rules" of video, and will degrade the signal. And if you were using "pro" grade equipment it would probably not work but most consumer stuff including desktop projector are built to deal with week signals so it will work, and *almost* no one would notice the image degradation.
- However I would only split a signal once this way, not into three devices without the above mentioned DA to properly split and boost the signal.
